help a brotha out

Before you bet your BR on the Chargers to pounce Indy this Saturday, consider this.

Posted by Vinnay:
A friend of mine, Jeff, has had an unfortunate Christmas. His home was destroyed by a fire on christmas morning and declared a total loss. Fortunately, he was not home at the time and no one was hurt, but he did lose his cat Maurice, along with all of his possessions. The fire was started in his tenants apartment, and quickly spread throughout the house. To make matters worse, he was just laid off from his long time manufacturing job.

We have set up a site to help raise some money for him to help get him back on his feet. If you can give that would be great, but please do me a favor and link up the site for me.

Happy Holiday Haters

The Celtics discovered who the best team in the NBA is this year while Santa presides over the Christmas day smackdown.

meanwhile, the Patsies could finish their 2008 NFL season 11-5 and still miss the playoffs while the Bolts could get in with an 8-8 record and host a playoff game.

weeee Bolts!

After a brutal start to the 2008 NFL season, the Chargers are still alive. All they have to do now is crush the donkeys next Sunday night to get into the post-season and host a playoff game. Rivers is playing extremely well and they're finally getting Gates involved again. That little sucker Sproles is straight flying thru defenders.

As long as our defense continues holding opponents to less than 30 points, we could make another run to the AFC Championship. But, first things first. Bust those donkeys!

TonySoprano takes down the Bodog Blogger II Series TOC

14 of us suited up with several prop bets on the line in addition to the t$2900 prize pool. The final TOC structure allowed for a lot of play. We didn't lose our 1st player until after first break. It took 2 hrs to get to the final nine with the money bubble busting after the 3rd break. It took approx 5 hrs to get down to our winner.

Here are your Bodog Series II Tournament of Champions final payouts:

Congrats to all the players who cashed in the final and thanks to everyone who participated in the series. Special congratulations to Chad on his win. I was unable to pass on his 10-1 odds and bet max prior to the start of the TOC. I also bet max on the last longer prop between me and CarnePicante.

A BIG thanks goes to Nadia for pulling this all together, Bodog for pumping up the prize pool every week and adding the final tournament prizes. Thanks to BuddyDankRadio for covering the series.

The Bodonkey will take a well deserved rest.

gg all!

Bodog Blogger Tournament Series II Final is set

4th place: T$100
5th place: T$50

The structure in the Bodog TOC will be even better than the weekly tournaments. We’ll start with 5000 chips and blind levels will increase every 20 minutes.

I decided to play the mOOk and ended up 2nd, I Lost HU to “TheBlueHeron” who I’m totally unfamiliar with. I’m not a reg in the mOOkie and probably played it less than 10x this year.

This hand pretty much decided it.

I was a shorty after this and held on for a while but couldn’t get a double up. I finally shoved A-rag into his button raise and he snap called with JJ.

How to drop a buy-in in 30mins at a blogger cash game PLUS how to win some back at the IP Sports book

I don't bet on sports much, at least not anymore. I'll pick a random game i'm gonna watch just to have some added action, it's rare tho really.

But, I was in Vegas and had to have something going. I saw the line on the SNF game as a complete con job. It was a must win for the Cowboys at home against their hated rival the Giants. They were favored by 3. Seems standard except the Giants just came off a division loss against Philly and despite their 11-2 record were playing for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Seems like a sweet deal to bet on the defending Superbowl Champion Giants right? You're getting 3 points in a game against a division rival who hasn't been playing well as of late.

If its too good to be true, bet the other side. This line stunk big time and i put $50 on Dallas -3.

I also noticed the Lakers were playing at home against Minn. Minnesota is off to another crappy start and the Lakers were leading the league in points scored. The over under was 209.5. Thats a lot of fuggin points even against a road team with only 4 wins heading into this game. I took the under for $50.

I didn't even have to sweat either bet. Meanwhile at the blogger cash game.....

I stacked off in less than 30 mins when i bled off a few chips trying to hit flops, then got involved in a hand with Dawn Summers who limp/called/check/shoved on a 5 high flop. The board was very draw heavy and I had pocket nines. i contemplated for a while and the fact she only had approx $60 behind led me to believe she was shoving on a draw so I called. She flipped pocket Aces and i didn't improve. I still had about $120 after that hand. Before i sat down, i decided i'd play one buy-in and if i went broke i was done. It would be my donation to the blogger community. Less than an orbit later, i pick up KK and raise it to $12. It folds around to CK on the button and she reraises to $50. I can't fold KK pf ever so i jam, she snap calls and flips AA. gg me

I was lucky to have those two sports bets come through for me to win back some of the money i donated to CK and Dawn.

Tonight is the 2nd to Last Chance to win your seat into the TOC this Thursday. GL to everyone on the TOC bubble.

Tina and I are off to see the Lakers at Staples Center Tuesday night vs. the Knicks. I'm registered for Tuesday's Bodonkey so you clowns can fight over my blinds and hopefully donk out so i can final table.

Goooo Lakers! after the game we're gonna check out LA Live for the first time since opening a few weeks ago.

8pl finish in the Venetian blogger tournament

82 players started with $2700 being paid to 1st. After about 7hrs, I came into the final table one of the chip leaders. Except for Astin, BuddyDank and PokerPeaker, i was unfamiliar with the rest of the table. By that i mean i may have played with them online before but never met them face to face so i didn't know who i was up against in a lot of situations. This was true throughout most of the tournament.

The Venetian tournament structure was very good. We started with 10k in chips and blind levels were 30 mins. There were a couple of big blind jumps late tho that forced alot of action. Luckily I had enough chips both times to still play poker. I had one double up early flopping a set of 5's vs. another player's QQ on a 9 high flop and stayed around 20k in chips playing small pots for about 2hrs when i doubled through again later with AKo vs AQ.

I won a couple races with 99 vs AT and A6o vs K2o. Both were all in calls against shortys and each time, i resucked. In the 99 vs AT hand an Ace spiked on the flop but a 9 binked on the turn and in the K2o hand against Blinders he caught a deuce on the turn but i rivered an Ace. Just before that hand Blinders was talking about how he should patent his tournament strategy. LOL

Astin went out on the money bubble in 10th when he jammed over my pf raise with KQo and lost a flip against my TT. Later, i woke up with QQ in the BB and a shorty on fumes jammed his AJo. An Ace binked on the flop and he doubled thru but it didn't even put a dent in my stack.

I was raising alot of pots and only seemed to get action from the player to my left. She came in with a short stack and i ended up doubling her when it was folded to me in the SB and i raised to 25k with 56o. She jammed for another 27k so it was a no brainer call. She flipped A8o and i didn't improve. I still had about 100k in chips after that. Later, i raised to 20k with QTo she jammed and i let it go. Meanwhile, BuddyDank busted out in 9th. I forget what his bustout hand was but he didn't have a lot of chips.

In my final hand I was down to about 80k in chips. With Blinds at 4000/8000/1000 ante, action folded to me in the SB, i raised to 25k with A2o and the BB flats. Flop came A-K-J rainbow. I jam she insta calls with KJo and i hit the rail in 8th getting $328. Buy-in was $135 so i net less than $200 for around 8hrs of play. LOOOL

It took her a while to call my pf raise so i'm sure this was on the edge of her calling range at that point in the tournament. If I just jammed pf, she probably can't call. That was the only big mistake I made the entire tournament and it cost me. I was really feeling i could take it down but, it wasn't meant to be.

Oh one thing i forgot to mention, i never saw AA or KK once the entire tournament. I got QQ 3x and lost 2 pots with it. Several players were saying they saw AA/KK two to three times each. Including Blinders who got AA twice and KK twice but still didn't final table. BuddyDank said he saw AA 3x. sick.

I hadn't eaten since breakfast so we didn't stick around to see who won. We had dinner with 'Peaker at Noodle Asia around midnight and headed back to the room. When we arrived at the room we discovered Nadia was up to her sneaky ways again. A bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting for us. You are the best Nadia!

We're heading off later to watch the NFL games at IP.

off to swim with the fishees

Got a bunch of errands and chores done today in preparation for our trip to Vegas tomorrow but still have to pack. Taking a break to play a few Bodog tournaments tonight. Plan to get packed when Tina gets home from work later.

It's funny because we've both been to Vegas so many times before and have even felt a bit burnt out on the scene there at times but once we decide to go and the day to leave is upon us, we still feel anxious about the drinks, food and good times along with the hope we get lucky and come back with a few extra $$$.

Definitely looking forward to the Venetian tournament Falstaff has organized for us and see some people i haven't seen since last year's Venetian blogger tourney. I haven't played any live poker since July.

The Chargers are in KC Sunday. Hopefully, they come away with a win so i don't have to withstand even more agony than already incurred this season.

Tina and I are planning to close out the weekend with dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas.

See ya when I see ya. GL at the tables!

TonySoprano can eat a bag of d***s

We started with 27 players Thursday night and T$109 on my head. Apparently some bloggers were preoccupied in Vegas.

I hoped to claim my own bounty once again and finished at the final table taking a couple players out along the way.

But, it wasn't meant to be.

I ran AKo into WilWonka's KK when we were on the final table bubble. A shorty shoved, WilWonka smooth called and I shoved to isolate. Obv, Wonka called and i was left with just crumbs when i couldn't bink a 3 outer. Once moved to the final table i pushed the rest of my measly stack in and got 3 callers. TonySoprano shoved to isolate and hit TP against my garbage hand and i was out.

Freakin fishee is killing the Cereus network too.

TonySoprano and WilWonka went HU with TS taking it down and most likely locking up a seat to the TOC with that win.

here are your final payouts for Thursday, 12/11/08:

Check the leaderboard for updates.

Next Tuesday, 12/16 is the final tournament of the series then the "Last Chance" Tournament on Wednesday 12/17 where everyone who has played at least 3 tournaments during the Bodog Blogger Series II is eligible (inc. 3 for 14 poker expert on the outside looking in).

the difference is "Drinkability"

Our friend Iggy sat down with a T$109 bounty and 44 players came out to take a shot at stacking his chips. He went fairly deep and almost final tabled finishing 14th.

In Iggy's bustout hand, there was a small raise ahead of me. Iggy and I both smooth called and i flopped the nizzles. I was hoping my overshove on the flop would look weak and Nate would also put his chips in there but he let it go. Iggy showed down AhQh.

Here's a screenshot of the hand.

vgg Iggy, thanks for playing this week. you're welcome back anytime.

I took Iggy's chips to the final table and won a few races to get 3 handed. Unfortunately, I ran outta steam and finished 3rd. MiamiDon took it down and shoots up the leaderboard. Don has locked up his seat into the TOC December 18th with this win.

Thursday night i try to capture my own bounty a 2nd time. Register early!

Make sure you pick your teams for the 2008 Blogger Donkey Race at the Venetian this Saturday. It's only $15 to enter and you don't need to be present or play the Venetian tournament to be eligible. Deadline to enter is 11:59pm Thursday 12/11.

Bodog also announced their "12 Days of Christmas" promo which starts Sunday December 21st with thousands added to the prize pools. For instance, 20k is added to Event 2 on Sunday 12/21.

knock Iggy out tonight and play for 1300 kegs Sunday

Do what over 6400 players were unable to do in this year's WSOP Main Event. Knock out the Blogfather tonight and pick up T$109. Iggy is fresh off his LSOP final table finish.

If you're lucky enough to knock him out, you can use the T$109 to play for 1300 kegs every Sunday. This is Bodog's new catch phrase that pops up when you go to their poker home page pimping the weekly 100k Guarantee. Pretty funny.

Thats a helluva lot of beer. I wonder how many kegs will be consumed during this weekend's poker blogger assembly in Vegas. I don't like referring to it as a "gathering". That sounds too much like a religious cult IMO. So from now on, it's the "blogger assembly" which might kinda sound like something from junior high school but unless someone else can come up with something better i'll use that instead.

BTW, Tina and I decided to go. Rooms and petrol are just too cheap to pass on. We're driving up Saturday morning to be there in time for the Venetian blogger tournament.

Bodog Bounties for next week...

Bodog is offering up two T$109 bounties during next week's Bodog Blogger Series II.

Any blogger lucky enough to knock out the 403rd best player of the 2008 WSOP Main Event on Tuesday, December 9th or the only player to capture his own bounty on Thursday, December 11th will receive T$109 to play Bodog's 100k Guarantee on Sunday.

Register early!

12 Bodonkeys have run their course with 4 left

After last night's Bodog Blogger Series II tournament, we're left with 3 tourneys plus the "Last Chance" tournament on Wednesday, December 17th. Anyone who's played at least 3 Bodonkeys in this series is eligible to play the "Last Chance" tourney which will place the top 3 finishers in the Bodog TOC on December 18th.

31 players registered to play last night and I never really got much going. i just picked up chips whenever i found a decent spot. then, when we got short-handed down to two tables there was either a raise or shove (or both) ahead of me and i was completely card dead. somehow, i limped into the final table as the shortest stack and went out a few hands in when it was folded to me in the SB and the next shortest stack was to my left in the BB. i jammed with Q9o to try and pick up the blinds/antes but, the BB woke up with AQo and that was it for me.

Here are your final payouts:

The poker blogger prop bets are up, goto "Other Sports/Poker".

Next week we have two bounties lined up. One will be placed on a well-known and respected blogger who's never played the Bodonkey before and the other is placed on the only poker blogger to win his own bounty.

sick prop bet

Johnny Vincent has a 10k prop bet ($500 max bet @ 20-1) that one of his buddies couldn't log 400,000 NLHE hands at 100NL or higher in a month with a positive win rate. well, he's ahead of schedule and up 20+ buy-ins so far. Johnny desperately needs your help.

"He’s streaming the entire month of play live on http://www.ustream.tv/channel/400k-hands
and you can watch him play and chat with him during the month. I don’t ask many favours of you dear Blog Friends, but I beg you to go to the above link and heckle, abuse, flirt, etc with him whilst he plays his 20 tables. Basically, anything you can do to distract him would be like really, really hot. Thanking you in advance. Now gogogogo…..

Bodog Blogger Series II poker blogger props are posted.

how hard can it be to win the lottery....really?

PokerStars is running their annual blogger freeroll in a couple weeks.

heh

Buy a superlotto ticket for $1 instead. it'll cost more but, you might actually have a shot and you won't resort to commiserating with your girly chat support group about how your AA went down to XX aipf.

IMO it's a bit of a joke how much cheap link luv PokerStars gets from this annual monstrousity compared to your actually chances of winning.

Meanwhile, take your shot at the Bodog TOC where you'll have a less than 18-1 odds of winning instead of bazillion to one.

Some new Bodog bounties are lined up for next week.

Take out "Money800" or "fossilman" from the 'Stars Blogger freeroll and they'll refund your initial buy-in.

Bodog Blogger Series II prop bets are up!

Bodog Blogger Series II poker blogger props have been posted. Go to Sports/Other Sports/Poker to view the props offered. Keep an eye on the odds as they may move based on how the rest of the series progresses.

FYI - for anyone who might be considering placing a bet on smok'. i'm gonna miss the Dec 16th tourney, Tina and I will be at the Lakers game at Staples Center (vs. the Knicks) and i'm gonna arrive late to the TOC on Dec 18th. We're flying into Charlotte, NC to visit Tina's family (flight arrives @ 8:30pm ET in Charlotte). We start with 5000 chips in the TOC so, i'm not too worried about blinding down to crumbs but, there's always that possibility we could get delayed or miss our connecting flight in Dallas.

no bounties just solid pokah, suckouts and coolers

standard tournament story right?

for some reason, Tuesday nights are not my night in the Bodonkey. my night ended with top 2p vs. the nuts. not a fun place to be.

i spewed a bit in the beginning with good starting hands and whiffing the flop then dubbled on the breakeven player with AA vs 88 only to succumb to another player with the ol' TPTK on the flop against his well disguised inside straight hitting the turn. all the chips went in there and the poker gods delivered me 2p on the river just for laughs.

IG made a special appearance as well as TFG.

i'm not sure who came into the final table as the chip leader. i was busy making dinner after that debacle and discovered after the smoke cleared, NZGreen took it down with Scottc25 finishing 2nd.

gg fellas

prop bets on Bodog Blogger II series to be offered

Bodog is getting together a list of odds to be placed on your favorite or least favorite bloggers.

Bodog Blogger Series II poker blogger props should be posted sometime this week. They'll be listed in "Other Sports/Poker" in Bodog's sports book.

There will be TOC last longer and Tournament Leaderboard props in addition to what the winning hand will be.

stay tuned...

5 Bodog Blogger Tournaments left + "Last Chance"

We're 2/3rd's of the way thru our Bodog Blogger Series II which started on Oct 28th with 10 tournaments in the books. Tonight we head down the home stretch with 5 tourneys left and the "Last Chance" tournament scheduled for Wed, December 17th. The top 3 finishers of the "Last Chance" tournament get a seat into the Dec 18th TOC and you only need to have played in 3 previous Bodog Blogger Series II tournaments to qualify for the "Last Chance".

Consider these next 5 tournaments + the "Last Chance" your last ditch effort to get into the TOC. It's not too late to win your way in. And to this point it appears the TOC will have less than 2 full tables. We've had 69 players participate with the top 15% of the leaderboard (10 players) winning their way in. If the TOC were to be set today, we'd have 13 players, 10 from the top 15% of the leaderboard plus 3 from the "Last Chance" tournament Dec 17th.

There's still time to get into the December 18th TOC.

Bodog Blogger Series II Leaderboard

December 18th TOC Final Prizes:
Entry: Free for the Top 15% on the TLB and the top 3 Last Chance finishers.
Grand Prize: T$2,000 + $100 casino credit
2nd place: T$500
3rd place: T$250
4th place: T$100
5th place: T$50
