Announcing the 1st annual Blogger Fantasy Football Battle (BFFB)
sponsored by FantasySportsLive.com!
The BFFB will bring together poker bloggers from around the country to compete in MTT style Fantasy Football contests that will run each week of the football season. $500 minimum will be added to the prize pool by FSL.
Each week starting September 9th, FSL will run 10-player $10 fee contests with BFFB in the title. Each contest will pay out $90 to the top three finishers that week. The results of all bloggers will be pooled together each week to determine the weekly BFFB results. Points will be awarded to the top 50% of finishers each week based on the PokerStars TLB formula. Points will be accumulated throughout the season to determine the overall champion. Added prizes by FSL are listed below. Also, any weekly overall winners will be invited to a “Tournament of Champions” at the end of the season.
1st Place Overall $100
2nd Place Overall $50
3rd Place Overall $25
1st Highest Individual Weekly Fantasy Score $100 2nd Highest Individual Weekly Fantasy Score $50 3rd Highest Individual Weekly Fantasy Score $25
Tournament of Champions
$150 minimum added to prize pool.
Results will be posted weekly at blinderspoker.blogspot.com
You can choose to compete weekly for your best chance at the season title, or just enter as many as you can. Even with a single weekly entry you are eligible for the highest score prize or with a win an entry in the tournament of champions. What we are doing with the BFFB has never been done before, and would not be possible without the daily contest format that we use. This format allows us to compare apples to apples in 100's of fantasy football entries, which is impossible with standard fantasy offerings.
Please help us make the BFFB a success, and spread the word about FSL.

HONEYDEW52: ty
HONEYDEW52: AK
HONEYDEW52: u have QQ or AA?
Skintappin: lol
riverat28: nice call on the flop with bottom pair
Skintappin: i knew honeydew would pay off eventually
HONEYDEW52: right right, i think the same of u, im not making all these calls based on my cards :-)
riverat28: haha
riverat28: kinda like that call with bottom pair
riverat28: 89
riverat28: solid call
riverat28: you are the best poker player on bodog
HONEYDEW52: haha, mocking me?
All in Julio: at least i feel a little better
HONEYDEW52: riverrat, u mocking me?
riverat28: you suck
riverat28: ill just slowing drain ur stack from you when you keep callin with crap
HONEYDEW52: haha, right...
HONEYDEW52: and how long u played mr rat?
Skintappin: everyone will
riverat28: how long have i played? i dont think thats the relivant question here
riverat28: i think its, how long have i been watching you play
HONEYDEW52: it was a serious question, how long have u played?
riverat28: long enough to see you call with bottom pair
riverat28: play 8,3 before the flop
riverat28: and suck out against pocket queens earlier
HONEYDEW52: river, ive played alot longer than u, and played w/ people alot more skillful than you
HONEYDEW52: and on MUCH higher stakes than this, and its not cuz i have money, its cuz i earn it
riverat28: haha, ok, thats why ur back playing .50/1
riverat28: hahaha
Skintappin: what a tard
HONEYDEW52: because i dont like the ups and downs
riverat28: and you were so awesome, you ended up right back here callin with bottom pair on the flop
HONEYDEW52: of high stakes
Skintappin: do u know how many times i have heard that said on this site - yer a tard
riverat28: well then this low stuff is made for your calling station type of play then isnt it
HONEYDEW52: u boys keep waiting for your AK every hand and ill play cards....
HONEYDEW52: so how long u played rat?
Skintappin: i got it
riverat28: long enough to understand i can ***** at you
Skintappin: break it
HONEYDEW52: right right, good luck on that, i guess you havent played that long then
riverat28: and it doesnt matter how long you have played, you can play like a dumptruck for 20 years
riverat28: and it doesnt mean you are bodog genious of the year
Skintappin: lol
riverat28: pull ur head out of ur butt
riverat28: you always have and always will be a dumptruck
HONEYDEW52: right right, good luck the rest of the way sir
riverat28: ur suck outs will not support your playing style and you will have those unbearable downs you dont like
HONEYDEW52: yup, thank u for the advice sir
riverat28: i see you have been playing tourneys for 2 dollars
riverat28: thats some really high quality poker you have been playing honey
riverat28: your husband must be proud
HONEYDEW52: when have i been playing 2 dollar tournys?
riverat28: hahaha
riverat28: nice bet honey
riverat28: whats the matter, bottom pair didnt hold up again?
HONEYDEW52: do u see me crying about the 2 pair i flopped, no....., i guess i played that one smart...
Retrovertigo: haha
riverat28: you just dumped 60
riverat28: i wouldnt call that smart hunny
HONEYDEW52: i bumped it up to 60 for the flush draw to call, i think u need to see who played that one smarter
abadd0n: y true
abadd0n: i thought you pay my flush
riverat28: ya ur right, playin an extra 30 to see the flush come on the turn was so economical
riverat28: you got me there
HONEYDEW52: haha, u seriously must have played for like a week rat, are u retarded?
riverat28: and then "abadd" called off half of his stack with the draw
riverat28: well ill just sit here and watch ur stack slowly go to nothing
riverat28: you have already dumped 100 in the last 30 min
HONEYDEW52: rat just come and get the rest then, and NH abadd0n that one hand
abadd0n: i was lucky
abadd0n: didnt had the odds to call
HONEYDEW52: i wonder if rat will ever tell me how long hes played :-)
riverat28: how long i have played does not have any correlation with how much you suck
HONEYDEW52: right right, it does w/ your retarded train of thought though
HONEYDEW52: so therefore i will get no answer
riverat28: o honey, it seems you have less than me now
riverat28: i remember when you were up over 300
HONEYDEW52: u didnt get any of that from me...
riverat28: must be those roller coaster rides you cant handle
riverat28: ya, you evenly distribute it amongst everyone
HONEYDEW52: right right, u are awesome rat
Retrovertigo: honeydew has more leaks than the iraqi navy
Retrovertigo: wheres it all gone?
HONEYDEW52: abadd0n
riverat28: no, only 60 went to the flush silly
riverat28: what happened to the other50 or so?
riverat28: did someone not do well in math class?
riverat28: how long have you been out of school honey?
riverat28: how long
HONEYDEW52: the one BET was 60, maybe u should go back to the hand
riverat28: ya, but you were up over $300 45 min ago
riverat28: what happened to the rest
riverat28: must be all that calling the blind to see every damn flop
riverat28: ooooooooo o no
riverat28: we got a preflop raise from honey
HONEYDEW52: had 2 hands where i played it right and got unlucky
HONEYDEW52: play a hand or 2 rat
riverat28: you raise with 10,6 suited
riverat28: you are very skilled
mujayzik36: T2 probably
HONEYDEW52: QQ to much out there to get me
riverat28: ok bud
riverat28: nice a,k
HONEYDEW52: u had AK?
riverat28: haha good one
riverat28: next time dont be an idiot when you miss flops
HONEYDEW52: haha, no prob....
riverat28: im not letting you suck out with two overs or bottom pair anymore
HONEYDEW52: i didnt need the flop u tard, u did
riverat28: nice fold honey
HONEYDEW52: if u did have 67 or 89 or whatever u played it horrible, u coulda got more money outta that hand

more on yesterday's Bodog outage
Apparently, Bodog was scheduled to appear in court to dispute a legal matter and chose not to.
http://www.point-spreads.com/industry/082907-opportunist-mel-molnick-steals-bodog.com-domain.html
with the start of football season coming up, this couldn't have come at a worse time for them .
more on the Bodog Blogger tourney
the BBT freeroll was a tremendous success. Hoy, Al and mOOk were already running three regular tournaments on FTP and found a way to make those tournaments even bigger, convincing FTP to give us back our rake from a tournament series in a freeroll. FTP has developed some customer loyalty through that.
i enjoyed playing at FTP. all of my online tournament successes were experienced at Full Tilt. but, i wanted a change of scenery. Bodog has offered this tournament to spur some interest in playing at their site. personally, i like Bodog's tournament structures and overlays. you won't find overlays on FTP and many of the players on Bodog are just terrible.
one of the biggest reasons i left FTP is, i was playing there all that time without rakeback. i couldn't get them to release my affiation to get rakeback with my existing screename. so, i had to close my acct there and decided to spend more time at Bodog because of it. i don't know how many of you are playing without rakeback. but, it's like throwing money away. i'm not playing without rakeback again.
maybe if there's more participation in the Bodog Blogger tournament, Bodog might bump the prize pool. for now, i would consider it a low stakes BR builder. since it runs on Tuesday night's, it doesn't compete with any other existing blogger tourneys.
the next Bodog Blogger tournament is scheduled for:
8:35pm EST Tuesday, Sept 4th.

Durrty Dozen
Twelve players showed up for the Bodog Blogger tournament. the turnout was most likely effected by the difficulties Bodog was experiencing earlier. there were several familiars and a few new "faces". Eight spots paid out (wheeeeeeeeee) with Lightning36 going HU for the title against Patch42. Unfortunately, Lightning ran outta steam and finished in 2nd.
Buddydank mentioned in one of his comments that he was able to fund his Bodog acct using a regular Visa card. So for those of you who wanna give Bodog a shot, you can give that a try. Just make sure you create a rakebreak acct (25% rakeback) and follow their instructions before you create your Bodog id.
after the tournament, i opened three 100max cash tables and promptly doubled up on two of them. some guy pushed to my reraise on the turn with a pair and OESD. My TPTK held. then, i flop a set of 7's vs. QQ and get paid on a J high flop. Later, i get some guy to push into my AA with QQ on a 5 high flop and turns a 2-outer. can't win 'em all. but, happy with my play.

this is a msg posted about the issue on newbodog:
Welcome to the new (temporary) Bodog. As you may know by now, Bodog.com is experiencing a technical issue impacting our players' ability to access our website.
This is the result of a legal dispute over the ownership of the Bodog.com domain name. We are fighting this dispute. We are confident that we will win, but until all is settled, I do not want our battle to interrupt your play.
So, I present you with newbodog.com. You won't notice very many changes: same website, same brand, same product, and same service. Just a new domain name.
We are working to resolve any remaining issues on the temporary site as soon as possible, and fully expect to have our original site back up shortly.
I sincerely apologize if you were affected by our interruption and assure you that I will update you soon.

to answer some of your questions:
- new deposits- i've been reading recent posts on pocketfives and 2+2 that the All Access Visa gift cards still work. i haven't deposited on Bodog since my initial deposit way back when. so, i can't confirm this myself. but, you can give it a try. if the All Access card doesn't work. you can still use it for other purchases.
- withdrawals- i haven't attempted to withdraw from Bodog yet. i was planning to do a withdrawal sometime this week. what i've been "hearing" is it takes at least a month to receive a check from them. some users have been using Nucharge to withdraw from Bodog. it's a phone card. but, works like a Visa. you can withdraw via ATM. i setup an acct there last week. waiting for the card to arrive.
- rakeback- you can setup an acct on Rakebreak. then follow the instructions there for setting up a Bodog account for rakeback. you will get 25% rakeback thru Rakebreak.

Bodog HH grabber
one thing that bothered me about playin at Bodog was, Ptracker didn't capture hand histories there. i ran a quick google search and found a utility called "Dogwatch Handgrabber". it runs in the background and captures all Bodog HH data. Dogwatch captures Bodog HH's while playing or observing. so, you can datamine when you're not at the table. cost is $19.
here's a screenshot of Ptracker stats after a short session capturing HH's with Dogwatch.
so, no more excuses. create a Bodog acct w/rakeback and register for the Blogger tourney scheduled for tomorrow night (Tue 8/28 @ 8:35pm EST). $125 added to the prize pool.

ya i seem to remember...
playing poker at a place called Full Tilt. where i enjoyed their tournament structures, satellites and token tourneys. i even had some fun in the cash games, playing as high as 5/10 NL with gnome.
those were the days. lots of satellite wins, final tables, tournament cashes, several in the 2-3k range and even a double up or three at the 2/4 NL cash tables.
good times.
yesterday, KOD hit me up in the IM with "i can't believe you're living up to your Full Tilt boycott".
he final tabled the 32k yesterday, one of my fav tourneys there. i final tabled the 32k a few times. i miss the 32k, 22k and the 17k DS at 1am EST filled with drunken donks.
for the time being, i'm stickin with Bodog.
i created a new screenname at FTP (with rakeback), that i might sneak into one of the blogger tourneys with. so if you see some "nOOb" stealin' your blind or check/raisin ur ass in a blogger tourney...
that just might be me.

Reasons i luv me sum Bodog
Rakeback - i wasn't getting any rakeback at Full Tilt or Stars. i was throwing $$$ away there.
Overlays - most of Bodog's daily guaranteed payout tournaments have an overlay. example: today's 10k guarantee DS tournament ($30+3 buy-in @ 1pm EST) started with only 207 players for a $3790 overlay. they needed 333 players to meet the 10k guaranteed payout.
Cash game donks - i've been donkin' around at 100max full ring. the games are EXTREMELY soft. squeeze plays and check/raising works well at this level. also, there's usually 1-2 donks dying to get all their chips in on a naked draw or a coin flip situation. last night, some guy sat down and open pushed on his first hand with 2-2 after posting OOP. this was after a pf raiser got a couple callers. the pf raiser CALLS with KQoff and busts him. the cash games are just plain donkeriffic.

Fantasy Baseball tilt
late in 4 multi-player contests yesterday, i was sitting in 3rd in three of them and 2nd on another looking at 4 possible payouts in all four of my contests.
i ended up with one 3rd place finish for $15. wheeeeeeeeeeee
i selected "El Duque" as my starter in all four contests. i figured this had to be a lock. Hernandez was 6-0 in his last six starts and the opposing pitcher, Ian Snell was 0-5 in his last six.
...and he's pitching against the freakin Pirates, c'mon.
"El Donkey" delivers back2back walks on like 10 pitches to start the game and gives up two runs in the 1st inning. the Mets tie the game in the 4th. but, then he gives up a HR in the bottom of the 4th giving the Pirates the lead. he goes out in the 6th with a no decision.
but, i still have three good bats in my lineup in the late games that could bail me out. Ken Griffey, Matt Holliday and Ichiro Suzuki.
well Torii Hunter pounced those donkeys. he finished the day with more pts than all three combined.

YAY Bodog !
i finished in 2nd for $1750 when my KK went down in flames to 4h6h heads up. we were almost even in chips with approx 300k when he flopped a gutshot straight/flush draw. it all went in and he nailed it on the turn. i'm very happy with how i played. some donkey lost a HUGE coin flip to me with QQ vs AKo and bashed me on the rail all the way thru the final table. the chat was pretty funny. i'll probably post that later.
btw, i quit FTP not poker. :P
R.I.P.
i can't catch a break. so, i'm takin' one. thanks to all who supported me and my blog over the last few yrs.
GL at the tables!

FTP Tier ladder SNG's
i haven't had much luck in my MTT's since coming back from Vegas. so, i'm gonna focus mostly on SNG's this week to recover my losses from MTT's and Satellites.
i've always felt the Tier SNG's would be a good way to turn a profit with minimal risk. my plan is to ladder up to Tier 3 single table SNG's($75 buy-in).
Tier 3 payouts:
$310.50 - 1st pl
$186.30 - 2nd pl
$124.20 - 3rd pl
i'll be playing mostly turbo Tier 1 and Tier 2's. so, i can play a higher qty. then switch to non-turbo Tier 3's. mostly out of frustration with tournaments, i played a Tier 3 last week and finished 2nd for $186. that's a pretty good ROI for an $8 investment and it's a lot easier to cash in an SNG than a tournament.
i'll be tracking / posting my results.

the poker gods are laughin' it up....
i sat down to the BBT Re-freeroll last night and bled off some chips early missing flops. i tightened up waiting for a premo hand, hoping to get in a good situation. with 10min blind levels you can be patient and hope to get lucky. well i didn't get lucky soon enuf.
while the blinds ate away at my stack, i found myself in push or fold mode after the 1st break. i open pushed several times after the break to keep myself around $1500.
it folds to me in the SB i look down at A-3off and push into Riggstad's A-7 in the BB. we end up chopping. now i'm really freerollin'. next orbit, i pick up TT in EP, open push and get two callers. not good. they both flip KK. what the hell? i catch a runner/runner straight and triple up to $4400.
wheeeeeeeeeeeeee
a coupla hands later i pick up AKo in the SB. it folds to Drizz on the button who opens with a pot sized raise. with a shorty in the BB, it just looks like a steal attempt. i come over the top all in. shorty calls and Drizz tanks for a long time. he finally calls with KK. WTF ???? i don't get lucky and lose about half my stack.
next orbit i pick up TT in EP and open pot raise. Wawfuls reraises me BIG, enuf for me to either push or fold. i tank. with such a big reraise, it felt like he had AK or AQ. willing to take a coin flip to try and double up, i push. he insta-calls with KK.
gg me
not my night. congrats to Numbono for takin' it down and Jordan for almost winning the lottery and finishing 2nd.

give yourself a chance...
the other day i calculated the cost for all the MTT's i'd like to play every day. it came to almost $600. i can't spend $600 a day on tournaments. so, i play satellites and token tourneys. this gets me in at the lowest possible cost. the discipline i have tho is this, i don't buy in directly. if i can't satellite in or win a token tourney, i play sng's instead of tournaments. this is how i've been able to at least break even during tournament droughts.
i don't reload my accts. i can't. i take money out when i have a nice score. last month (july), i took out $1500 for our Vegas trip and to have some extra cash on hand. well, i didn't make any $$$ in Vegas and came back with very little. but, i had enuf online to continue playing sats/sng's.
sometimes, i feel like i'm stuck in the mud, like i'm in sng/satellite purgatory. but, i know all i need is one or two good scores to get back to playing more tournaments and less sngs/satellites.
personally, cash games are just too swingy. you can sit down and drop 2-3 buy-in's (or more) getting into bad situations. then, u spend the rest of the time trying to get back to even. but, sometimes you lose even more. i don't mind playing cash games recreationally with the blonkeys in vegas. i bring a few buy ins and if that disappears, i'm done. i chalk it up to edu-tainment.
you can win tournaments. players do it hundreds of times online every day. it's not impossible. you just make good decisions, minimize your mistakes, gamble when you should and hope the cards fall in your favor. luck is a big factor in both tournaments and cash games. once you get over that, you're giving yourself a chance to win.
i give myself a chance to win everyday.
