SoCal fires

last night when we were at at the jacuzzi, we noticed a distant glow coming over the top of a hill south of San Clemente. later that night, we saw flames at the top of that hill just before we went to bed. a fire had broken out just north of Camp Pendleton which is about 20 minutes south of us. this morning i couldn't see any flames on that hill. but, the sky is filled with dark smoke. so, hopefully they have it under control.

here's a link to a map of all the fires in San Diego/Orange County

last night, Tina took pics of everything in our apt for insurance purposes and we made a short list of everything to take if we have to evacuate. mostly pictures, legal documents, jewelry, some clothes and stuff for the wedding. there are thousands of people who've been evacuated to Qualcomm stadium's parking lot and the Chargers have been flown to Phoenix to practice for this Sunday's home game. yesterday, i heard on ESPN that LT and several other players had to evaculate their homes recently due to the fires. hopefully, we won't have to do the same.

Great idea about the photos - I did that a few years ago and should do it again.

Insurance companies like that sort of thing!!

Give your wife a gold star and good luck wit the fires!

hey man, glad to hear that you're safe and haven't had to be evacuated yet.

the other day my work in anaheim hills had to be because some jackass started a fire on the hill behind us.

...this has all been a really special time.

Crazy times down here. Seems to be winding down, tho, and how about the Antonio/Antonio show the Bolts put on. Frakkin' brilliant! My dad was under the evac order, but over on the coast things were smoky but fine. With all the coverage down here, I didn't realize until Wednesday that the Santiago fire was roaring away. Glad you and Tina were safe from that. The pics are a great idea. Just make sure you save them somewhere safe. Upload them to a private album on Flickr or Picasa. That way if a fire does happen and you lose your hard drive (or the CD Rom melts, yadda yadda), the pics are safe.
